category: Graphics Cards
Brand: Galaxy
Rating : 3.0
Review : Fantastic hardware, software and documentation could be better
I bought this card for a new ivy bridge build. So far I am very impressed.
Pros:
Very fast out of the box overclock making the already impressive Kepler that much better.
Good cooling solution with a massive heatsink and 3 fans, but still a 2-slot card (many custom 680's are 3 slot)
Very quiet at idle, not much louder under load
Cons:
Galaxy's documentation is pretty poor.
Galaxy's overclocking tool "Xtreme tuner plus" is not very n00b friendly. This is my first nvidia card in several years (sorry amd), and looking at the interface of the tool, I just have no idea what the different settings mean, or what sane values for the settings are.
Also, Xtreme tuner plus (as of version 1.0.1) starts itself automatically at windows boot. That's all well and good. What's not so well and good however is it presents me a windows UAC approval pop-up on every boot up.
Other thoughts:
Pay close attention to the connectors on this...
