Review : A good card for a system with a 300-watt PSU
I bought this card to replace a dying GeForce 8600GT, and the difference between the two cards is dramatic. Frame rates have more than doubled. HAWX plays smoothly with no jarring or hesitations. Moreover, the temperature of the GPU rarely rises above 120F and usually hovers around 105F. The card is solidly built and well laid out, with the fan placed amid the large heatsink.
My choice of card was limited by the power of the PSU -- 300 watts. I could have upgraded the PSU, but for my needs the GT240 works well enough. I strongly recommend downloading the latest drivers from Nvidia. The installation disc contains separate PhysX divers, which should be avoided like poison. I initially had problems with the drivers on the installation disc and emailed Zotac, which in turn contacted Nvidia, whose customer service was superb!
